13 December 06 - 14:46The VII-th Admiralty Music Festival

On December 08 the VII-th International festival “Admiralty Music” was opened by a noon shot of a gun in Peter & Paul’s Fortress. We are very happy that we were honored to fire a shot in the famous historical fortress as it speaks about the high recognition of our festival. The friendship between Russia and Germany is so great nowadays that the honor to fire a shot was afforded to guest conductor of the festival Chief of Bundeswehr Band Service Colonel Dr. Michael Schramm – who then conducted the first two concerts of the festival on December 09 in the State Hermitage and on December 11 in Capella hall of M.Glinka.

08 October 06 - 09:28Music of mobile phones

October 05, White Hall of the Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnic University, a concert of the Admiralty Navy Band with one of the most favorite by the audience programs “Music of mobile phones”. The concert with this program had been specially requested by the audience and the organizers of the event.

In reality it was a concert of serious classical music. But as actually all classical music, that is performed nowadays, have become phone melodies, Commander Karabanov considered it possible to make a program with such “phone calls”, i.e. the most popular classical music that we hear from mobile phones here and there. The conductor’s humorous comments on mobile phone calls added a special charm to the concert.
The audience and even the Band musicians couldn’t help smiling and sometimes laughing at the conductor’s words introducing every musical composition. At the same time the audience sat as silent as the dead listening to the superb music played by the Band so brightly and delicately, with so soft and exquisite touches. The Band’s voluptuous pianissimo is a topic for a separate discussion.
Dear reader, if you have a good sense of humour and wish to enjoy the light and amusing atmosphere of the concert combined with the magnificent music, you are very welcome to read more.
